We have ample experience supporting and assisting our clients at every stage of their projects. We develop engineering projects related to the design of underground and hydraulic works. Our expertise is in the design of fortification and support, numerical modeling, structural design calculations, construction methods with drill and blast, TBM machines, and the development of geotechnical contract documents (GDR/GBR).

Skava’s experience includes designs using SEM (NATM), Norwegian Tunneling Method, Open Cut, TBM, Shotcrete method, etc. Also, Skava has been involved in all types of tunnels designs (Transit tunnels, highway tunnels, Train tunnels, hydraulic tunnels, Pressure Tunnels), shafts and Underground large facilities (Large Caverns).

The design can be in any stage of the project; pre-faseabilty, faseability, basic engineering and detail engineering delivering a conceptual, basic, initial or final design as it is needed. Skava will also perform a comparative study of all possible tunneling methods. Each design can include costs and time estimations. At early stages, a Value Engineering can be taken by Skava.

In order to confront the problems resulting from unexpected events (Collapses of portals, collapses of tunnels, Rockburst, bad performance in construction, etc.) in underground construction, we provide a team of specialists called “Emergency Task Force”. This team will include a Senior Geologist, a Senior Geotechnical Engineer, a Senior Civil Engineer, and a Senior Construction Management Engineer, led by one Project Coordinator. This team will be working as a thid party arriving within 48 hours of first call and will design and supervise on site the solution for the unexpected event.

As a State of The Art developement, Skava has innovated with the inclusion of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to tunneling. Using AI through TunnelArts a forecast of the rocktype to be excavated in Drill & Blast tunnels can be perfor- med. The only input required is information from the Probe Holes (Destructive, with any Jumbo). In previous projects, prognosis with over 85% of accurancy have been reached. All in a web platform that allows results in Real Time and worldwide access.
